Morning Routine: Final Steps to Create a Successful Day

In the first two messages, I shared five steps of my morning routine:

1 – Drink water

2 – Meditate

3 – Affirmations

4 – Visualize

5 – Exercise

This week, I’ll share the last few steps of my morning routine.

Now that I have exercised, it’s time to read.  I like to read something spiritual. I’m currently reading, The Daily Stoic by Ryan Holiday.   It is filled with quotes for each day of the year.

The thought for today is by Seneca, an ancient Roman Stoic. He said, “The greatest portion of peace of mind is doing nothing wrong. Those who lack self-control live disoriented and disturbed lives.”

And then there’s a whole explanation. Consider the fugitives willingly, turn themselves in. After years on the run, why would they do that? They were free one step ahead of the law, but they gave up. Why? Because the guilt and the stress of a fugitive life eventually gets worse than the prospect of lost freedom.

I love to fill myself with inspirational stuff from other people. You don’t have to read a lot, just like one to three pages. You could do this whole thing in like 15, 20 minutes. When I’ve got the time, I’ll spend an hour doing it, not counting the workout.

Include reading in your morning routine.

And the last thing is, to scribe, do some writing. One thing I’ve learned, is that all successful people keep journals.  The simplest journaling you could do is a simple gratitude exercise.

Here’s the gratitude exercise I follow (with my written examples). It comes from my mentor, Alan Walters:

  1. What are your goals for the day?

Today, I want to have a good day, complete my videos, and to close several open loops in my business.

  1. What am I willing to give to others today?

I’m giving presence, peace, energy, wisdom, and love.

  1. Name 10 things that I’m grateful for right now.

Presence, Love, Health, Energy, Spiritual teammates, Family, Friends, Wealth, Peace, and Happiness.

  1. What am I grateful for that someone else does for me?

Well, I’m grateful to my team, both locally and globally for maintaining our business and for expanding our mission around the world.

  1. What am I happy about?

I’m happy to give value to other people that are looking to improve their lives. That’s what I’m happy to do today.

The second part of this process happens in the evening, before going to bed.  You ask and write the answers to these questions:

  1. How did I do on my goals?
  2. What did I give to others today?
  3. What am I happy about tonight?

And I make a list of all my wins I accomplished through the day. Then I go to bed. That’s my routine.

If you can follow this process, even in its most abbreviated format, least seven days, here’s what’s going happen.  You’re going to notice some different things happening in your life that are very positive. Like…

  • Finding yourself a little bit more in the right place at the right time.
  • People being attracted to you in a very positive way.
  • You’re going find that suddenly, your luck is begun to turn positive a little bit more.

Would that be useful to you? I think it will. Now don’t ask me why that happens. I’m sure some of you have some great ideas as to why that happens. It’s the law of attraction says what you know, says that as your being, this gets bigger, you attract more.

I call it sacred time. Why? Because nobody messes with it. No matter how early I need to get up, no matter how late I went to bed, I’m committed to that sacred time before I go on with my day.

I’m not going to let the world dictate to me how my life will be today. I dictate that myself and you should too.  Even if you can, even if you are pressed on time and you only got five to 10 minutes to run through it, that’s five to 10 minutes well worth spent.

Morning Routine Next Steps…

Last time I share the first two steps of my morning routine: 1 – drink water and 2 meditate, click to read this article.

The third thing is, affirmations. Now, you may be asking, “What’s an affirmation?”  In this case, an affirmation is a statement that is declared to be true.  I like my affirmations to be in present tense, personal and positive.  I’ve got a whole stack of them (about 50 or so).   I’ve written them down, one on each note card.  And every morning, after mediation, I go through each one.  A few of mine are:

  • “My body and immune systems are strong and ward off all disease and any entity that can cause my body illness; including COVID 19, Hemochromatosis, the flu.” And whatever I can think of that could possibly hurt me. Right?
  • “I am reliable, dependable and honorable.”
  • “I am a great teacher and leader.”
  • “I’m a responsive, caring, loving husband and father.”
  • “I love my body and do only healthy thing to keep it strong and healthy.”
  • “I love people.”
  • “I’m responsible.”
  • “I am valuable, and I value myself.”
  • “I’m a great team leader and encourage and allow and inspire others to lead.”
  • “I’m a huge, loving, spiritual being.”
  • “I create financial security and abundance for in my family.”

So, whatever your affirmations are, write them down.  You don’t need 50 of them. Start with five, that’s fine.

It’s important to spend a few minutes each day reading them out loud. You need to feel them and say them.  Why? Well, because your brain is elastic, right? It’s called neuroplasticity.  The more times you repeat something, it begins to formulate as a permanent thought in your brain. It’s not just a fleeting thought, okay? You start responding differently. You, you start acting differently. You start setting yourself up to win.  That is what happens.

Step four, have a seat, gently close your eyes, take a deep breath, and visualize.  Visualize your day. What do you want your day to look like?  For me, I want to record six videos today. I plan to spend some time with my son today. Um, I’m looking forward to talking to my sister this afternoon.   I picture a million dollars sitting in my bank account.  I live in a beautiful new home, in a great neighborhood.  I look forward to having all my friends around me most of the time.

And it’s okay if you visualize the same or similar things again and again.  If more come to mind, good.   Maybe your visualization will take a little bit longer, but just allow yourself to see it, feel it and hear it. Okay. Every day. Whatever, it is you want to accomplish, visualize it!

Now number five is exercise. I work out regularly with my fitness GURU, Mack Newton at 10:00 AM Phoenix, Arizona time. And by the way, you can go online and work out with Mack too.

For information, go to https://www.macknewton.com/. If you want to try a workout, he offers a Seven-minute workout (under Resources Tab, Video Vault).  You can handle seven minutes. As one of the people in the front row, we did this a few years ago. It is a simple, fast-paced workout.   Now, if you feel strong after completing seven minutes, then do two of them.  Feel strong with that? Do three of them, then, four or five of those seven minute workouts back to back at the minimum.  But, start with one seven minute workout. If you haven’t worked out at all.  Do some stretching, get your body flowing. Get, get the blood moving.  Exercise is critical to good thinking and high mood levels.

I’ll share the last few steps next week.

So after the exercise, then what you do is you read now you read something spiritual. Okay. So for me, I, one of the things I have is this one called the daily stoic and what it is, it’s it’s quotes each day of the year. There’s a quote in here. So let’s see today, May 11th. Okay. What’s the thought for today? This is by Seneca. One of the ancient Roman Stoics. He said the greatest portion of peace of mind is doing nothing wrong. Hmm. The greatest portion of peace of mind is doing nothing wrong. Those who lack self-control live disoriented and disturbed lives. Okay, good. And then there’s a whole explanation here. Consider the fugitives willingly, turn themselves in. After years on the run, why would they do that? They were free one step ahead of the law, but they gave up. Why? Because the guilt and the stress of the Fugit of life eventually gets worse than the prospect of lost freedom.

In fact, it was its own kind of prison and more of that. So I, I loved the read. So I have that, uh, I read a little of at, Caroli see what at cartel, what I read today, uh, presence, presence being present is a state of inner spaciousness. When you are present, you ask, how do I respond to the needs of this situation in this mode? In fact, you don’t even need to ask the question. You are still alert, open to what is you bring a new dimension into the situation space. Then you look and you listen, thus, you become one with the situation. When instead of reacting against the situation you merged with it, the solution arises out of the situation itself. Okay? So I love to fill myself with inspirational stuff from other people. You don’t, again, you don’t have to read a lot, just like one page, two pages, three pages. You could do this whole, you could do this without the exercise. You could do this whole thing in like 15, 20 minutes. Um, when I’m really, when I’ve got the time, I’ll spend an hour doing it, not counting the workout. Okay? Um, here’s one becoming a good apprentice.

You do not seek to have before you be, or before you do, this is quite the opposite of most people who demand high salaries and numerous benefits. Even though they lack competence and knowledge in the area who have some perverted fixed ideas, such as the universe owes me a living, or you know me, you owe me, this is the height of criminality because it violates reciprocation, spiritual knowledge and skills. Last, an eternity and identities are a person’s knowledge and skills last all only a few years, spiritual knowledge is forever. Okay. Read.

And the last thing is, describe is describe, is to do some writing. One thing I learned that all successful people keep journals. And so the simplest journal you could do is, is what I do, which is just a very simple gratitude exercise. Okay? So gratitude exercise.

So here’s the gratitude exercise. I’ll give it to you right here. It is. Number one. What are your goals for the day? You write them down? I said today, I said, I have a, I wanna to have a good day with many videos completed and to close several open loops in my business. Number two, what am I willing to give to others today? I’m giving presence, peace, energy, wisdom, and love today. That’s what I plan to give today. 10 things that I’m grateful for right now. Number one, now presence. Love health, energy, spiritual teammates, family, friends, wealth. Okay. Number four. What am I grateful for that someone else does for me? Well, I’m grateful to my team. I’m grateful on my team, both locally and globally for maintaining our business and for expanding our mission around the world. And number five, what am I happy about?

Well, I’m happy to give value. Uh, I’m happy to give value to other people that are looking to improve their lives. That’s what I’m happy to do today. Okay. So that’s it now at, at tonight? What, when I go to bed, the, the back part of that is how did I do on my goals? Number two, what did I give to others today? Number three, what am I happy about tonight? And I make a list of all my wins. I make a list of all my, all my wins that I it’s accomplished through the day. Then I go to bed. That’s my routine. That’s my morning routine. Now again, I spent some extra time to explain it to you. So maybe you took some notes. Maybe you wanna copy it a little bit. Um, I’m happy to have you do that. Why? Because one thing I’m, I’m gonna guarantee you this.

If you can follow this process, even as in its most abbreviated format, if you can follow this format for at least seven days, not 70, not seven months, but seven days, here’s what’s gonna happen. You’re gonna notice some different things happening in your life that are very positive. You’re gonna know. So you’re gonna find yourself a little bit more in the right place at the right time. Uh, people are gonna be bringing, being attracted to you in a very positive way. You’re gonna find that all of a sudden your luck is begun to turn positive a little bit more. Would that be used to you? I think it will. Now don’t ask me why that happens. I’m sure some of you have some great ideas as to why that happens. It’s the law of attraction says what you know, says that as your being, this gets bigger, you attract more.

But what you attract is not always positive. Why is it positive with this is because the beingness that you’re putting out is all positive, positive, more positive, and you’ll attract more. Okay. So again, have a great day, have a day that you want. I call it sacred time. Why? Cuz nobody messes with it. No matter how early I gotta get up, no matter how late I went to bed, I gotta spend time sacred time before I go to my phone. Okay. I’m not gonna be looking. I I’m not gonna let the world dictate to me how my, how my life is gonna be today. I’m gonna dictate that myself and you should too. Okay. Even if you can, even if you are pressed on time and you only got five to 10 minutes to run through it, that’s five to 10 minutes well worth spent.

Okay? So that’s my morning routine. Those of you sport. Now you got it. Morning Routine

Let me ask you a question.

Would you like to have a string of really, really good days back-to-back?

I’m sure the answer to that is yes.  And for most of my life, I’m always looking for ways to do that. And over the years, I’ve accumulated lots of habits, lots of disciplines

Recently the question came up, “Blair, what’s your morning routine?” What is it you do? How do you keep your head on straight?  And, how do you have good days one after the other?

Well, I wish I could tell you that every day is a good day. Not every day is a good day, but most of them are.  I want to share with you what I do in case you want to copy it to use it for yourself.

One thing that I found is that great athletes, great performers, great business people, very successful people, basically have routines.  They have rituals. A ritual is something you do again and again and again.

Why do you do it? Because it works because.  It becomes a habit in the habit, becomes beliefs and beliefs become your behaviors, which ultimately affect your results. So, if you’re looking for better results, I’m going to give you, my routine (an abbreviated version).  That way, you get a feel for it. You’re welcome to change it, add to it, whatever you want to do.

Now, part of this formula is from a fellow by the name of Hal Elrod. You may be familiar with his book, The Miracle Morning: The Not So-Obvious Secret Guaranteed to Transform Your Life Before 8:00 AM.

So, what does that mean?  It means, whatever you’re going to do, you’re going to do it first thing in the morning.

My routine follows some of his format, but the way I do it is very different.  So here we go.

Step number one.   The first thing you do, when you get up in the morning, drink some water.   Remember you’ve been sleeping for 6, 7, 8 hours with no water, get a good slug of water into you. Maybe up to 16 ounces, brush your teeth, do what you got to do in the bathroom. Do not look at your phone, no text messages or WhatsApp or social media. Don’t do it, resist, put it someplace else.

Take this sacred time and make sure you keep it sacred. Why? Because you deserve it. Why else? Because it will set your context, giving you a reset in the proper way for a great day. Wouldn’t you like to have a day that goes the way you want it to go?

Wouldn’t you like to be in the right place at the right time with a right people, with the right questions, with the right answers, and the right solutions?  Some people say that’s luck. Well, it’s not luck. It happens when you start to attract things in your life because you’re focused on the good things in your life.

Step number two, meditate. I don’t know about you, but I’ve had a difficult time meditating. My brain is like Bing, Bing, Bing all over the place.  What I’ve learned is, I need to learn how to meditate.   I’m very blessed, to be working with an amazing Buddhist monk from the Buddhist temple in Thailand, the largest in the world.

And every Monday he trains me, now it’s a little bit easier to do.

I’ll share the tips he’s given me about meditation.  First, there is no such thing as a bad meditation. If you meditate for only 10 seconds, that’s a good meditation. And no matter what happens, if your brain is like bouncing all over the place, it’s okay. Just do your best. Take a breath.

It’s kind of like fighting in a ring.  You’re in a ring punching, but your mind’s just all over the place. Stop, open your eyes. Reset. Sit down, close your eyes, take some deep breaths. Feel the air going through your nose, down to a place just above your naval and just allow your mind to go still.

He gave this analogy:  two bodies of water, a very muddy river that’s filled with silt. You can’t see what’s below the surface, could be all kinds of nasty things down there.  Or you could go to a crystal-clear Caribbean lagoon where you can see 40, 50 feet straight down to the bottom. You can see all the fish; you can see everything in there.

He said, that’s your mind. Do you want to make decisions from a muddy perspective or a clear perspective?   The idea is to still the mind and just clear it. Even if it’s only for 10 seconds, you might meditate for five minutes, 10 minutes, 20 minutes, 30 minutes, 60 minutes it’s up to you.  Whatever you feel comfortable with, but don’t beat yourself up if it’s hard to shut your brain down. That’s the whole point, to learn how to do it.  Just, meditate!

I’ll share more steps in the next article.

Goal Setting How to Handle Missed Goals

Have you ever set a goal?

I’m sure that in your life you’ve set goals, or you at least know other people that have set goals.

Have you achieved all the goals you set?

I haven’t.

And the truth of it is you’re not going to accomplish every goal you set out in life. It’s just not humanly possible.  But what happens after you either achieve a goal or not, is critical to achieving the next goal you set.

Let me explain. Let’s say your goal is to make a million dollars.  Along the way you figure that the way you’re going to make a million dollars is to build a business of your own.  A year goes by, and the business doesn’t even come close to generating a million dollars.   You get down on yourself and begin thinking, “See, I set a goal for a million dollars but didn’t make it.  This isn’t worth it.”

But here’s the deal and the way you rehabilitate that disappointment. Consider this, the reason you didn’t get that goal is because somewhere along the way to making to the million dollars, you DID achieve something you wanted even more than the million dollars.

Maybe, when you established your business and people told you it was great and acknowledged what you were doing, you realize the business was working!  Yeah, it didn’t make the million, but on the way, the big win was that you built a business.  A solid business providing a product or service people love.

The problem is, you didn’t acknowledge that win.  Remember, you were going for the million dollars. But your spirit, the part of you that really wanted to be recognized and be able to play a bigger game accomplished the real goal. Even though it wasn’t a conscious one, that subconscious, spiritual goal was realized. Okay, you didn’t get the material goal that was written down on paper.  If you don’t acknowledge the real goal, if you don’t acknowledge the goals that you did achieve – finding the product, raising the capital, finding an awesome team, getting acknowledgements and testimonies from your customers, etc. If you don’t acknowledge those wins and those goals what’ll happen is not only did you not get the million, but when you go to set the next goal for next year, I’m gonna make a million dollars.

Do you know what’s going to happen?  It is going to be even harder. Why? Because you did not acknowledge the wins that you did accomplish along the way.

So anytime you set a goal for yourself, and you don’t meet the deadline or don’t make it happen, make a list of the things you did accomplish.  Say them out loud, do this with somebody else. And you will find, as you say them out loud, one or two of them will make you chuckle, make you smile. Maybe even bring tears to your eyes. That’s the goal your spirit really wanted. That’s probably why you didn’t get the other goals because you didn’t acknowledge the real one that was sitting deep inside.

See, you’re always winning. You’re always accomplishing. You need to acknowledge those wins. And as you do, and as you acknowledge the goals that you did achieve, even in face of the failed goals, the goals that you set can become bigger, more profitable to you and more rewarding.

Be awesome.

Discover the Real Issues

What is the biggest pain point of your customer?

Can you nail down that underlying issue that you can help them eliminate?

In reality, many businesses don’t understand what their market truly wants. They focus on the surface-level messages without digging deeper to identify the root problem.

I don’t want you to be like those businesses.

You need to learn how to identify the issues that even your customer might not see themselves.

Why?

Because when you do this, your marketing and sales effort will start to return much better results.

Think of it this way:

Nobody becomes overweight from eating one piece of cake. There’s got to be something about their eating patterns.

Similarly, a business doesn’t struggle for a lack of sales. There has to be something in the processes that isn’t performing up to par and affecting sales.

Do you see where I’m going with this?

You need to look beyond the obvious and find precisely what’s causing it.

This is how your audience will recognize that you understand their struggle. And when they realize that you know their real pain, they’re more likely to work with you on solving it.

But, how do you find those underlying issues?

The answer is in asking a lot of questions.

For example, we have a list of 50 questions that we ask our clients to shed light on their business processes. This allows us to know what works and what doesn’t in our clients’ business.

Let’s say that you’re in real estate. You’d need to know the investor’s needs, risk appetite, and all other crucial criteria in great detail.

Just because you have a lower-ticket offer (compared to real estate) doesn’t mean that you shouldn’t dig as much into your audience’s needs.

My advice is for you to start figuring out your audience’s underlying pain as soon as possible. I trust that you now know the benefits.

Negotiate to a YES

I’ve covered the first four steps of the selling cycle.

The fifth step is how to handle objections and turning a no into a yes.

Somewhere during this negotiation, whether it’s online or offline, you’re going to find that someone is going to say no.

They might say that they don’t have any interest in what you’re offering. Or, they don’t have enough money.

People will say “no” because they don’t understand or because they have Little Voices going on all about it.

Your job is to have the skill to turn a no into a yes.

How do you do it?

Through acknowledgment and asking questions. Learn how to handle the psychology behind the objections, which is just say “thank you” to everything.

Somebody says it’s too expensive? Thank you.

Somebody says you’re an idiot? Thank you.

You have no idea what you’re talking about? Thank you.

And then, you ask questions.

Why do you feel that way? What are you comparing it to?

Many people can’t sell because they feel terrified of public speaking. Any kind of public speaking is greater than the fear of death for most people.

Why?

Because they feel exposed.

If they mess up, everyone will see it. And it’s not so much about messing up but the embarrassment that follows. That’s what people are afraid of.

When someone says no, just remember this formula:

When your emotion goes up your intelligence goes down.

That means you’ll want to keep your cool, say thank you, then ask questions that may make them change their mind.

You’ll be more than ready to handle someone saying no to you and you’re not going to allow your emotion to go up.

That’s all there is to step five – objection handling.

And you can use this formula to turn a no into a yes.

If you want know the secrets to negotiate to a YES, online or offline so they trust, love, and respect you within minutes, I’d like to invite you to click here >>
